The 55s scraped together a team of 11 to play the whole Sunday game against the OBOB squad of 16 or 17 who kept a steady flow of substitutes in an attempt to wear us out.  Nevertheless, their only viable attempt at goal came within minutes of the start when Rob, in centre defense, watched an attempted trap roll under his foot right to their player, only to be wasted with a wide shot by the OBOB forward who ran in one-on-one against our goalie, Happy.  After that scare, we got serious and moved the ball around with good discipline, covered their dangerous centre midfielders smartly, and created dangerous plays steadily with our counterattack and speed up front, thanks to Mirek and Ralph.  Despite our good attacks, our first goal actually came after a bad clear on their defense that fell to Mirek's feet in the area, and he pushed the ball under the diving goalie.  The score could have been 4-0 by half were it not for their gargantuan goalie that managed to block several sure-goals.  With 1-0 lead at the break, we came out strong again in the second half.  In their efforts to score, they pushed their players forward.  Our solid defense in back with Rob, Kim, Peter, and Donnie kept them frustrated and finally deflated after we stopped a dangerous push that quickly turned into a counter attack and a goal by Ralph.  While we were tiring, so were they.  They made so many substitutions that stopped play that it actually gave us a bit of resting time.  Our last goal came with another Mirek attack on goal to bring it to 3-0.  All in all a game we dominated easily.  Good play, boys, and a nice shutout by Happy!  Thanks to Rick for coming to play with our squad and give us a full team.
